LOVES PARK, Ill. - Winnipeg starter Ace Walker proved worthy of his nickname on Tuesday.
Walker pitched a three-hitter as the Goldeyes beat the RiverHawks, 7-1, at Road Ranger Stadium.
John Wagle hit a leadoff home run in the seventh inning, in front of a near-sellout crowd of 2,989, to keep Walker from a shutout.
Walker (5-2) struck out six, all looking, without a walk to win his third straight decision. Walker is unbeaten in his last eight starts.
Rockford starter Kyle Ruwe gave up a two-out, two-run single to Price Kendall in the third inning and a two-out, two-run double to Vince Harrison in the fourth. Ruwe (3-6) struck out five and walked one, but gave up seven hits over seven innings. The Goldeyes added three runs in the eighth inning.
