
T-Birds Sign Goalie Roddy Ross

KENT - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Bil La Forge today announced goalie Roddy Ross has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.
Ross, born in 2000, is 6'4" and 180 pounds and was playing with the Camrose Kodiaks in the AJHL. This season with Camrose, Ross appeared in 22 games and had a 2.94 goals against average and .920 save percentage.
Last season Ross played 22 game with the Tisdale Trojans in the SMHL and had a 1.85 goals against average and .940 save percentage.
"Roddy been very good this season in a very good AJHL," said La Forge. "He is a big guy that gets in front of the puck and is playing the right way for a big goalie."
"Roddy has a great pedigree," continued La Forge. "He led the Saskatchewan midget league last year in save percentage while playing for the Tisdale Trojans. We are excited to have him join the team."
The T-Birds start a six-game road trip to the East Division on Friday, January 4, against the Brandon Wheat Kings at 5:30pm.
Ross will join the team immediately and be eligible to play in Brandon on Friday.
The road trip continues against the Regina Pats on Sunday, January 6, at 2pm. They will play the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday, January 8, and the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday, January 9. The last two games on the road trip are Friday, January 11, against the Moose Jaw Warriors and Saturday, January 12 against the Swift Current Broncos.
By signing a WHL Standard Player Agreement, Sanders is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL. A player can attend any career enhancing institution of his choice, including universities, colleges, technical institutes, trade schools, or any other institution which will help the player achieve his academic and career goals.
For each season played in the WHL, a player receives a one-year post-secondary scholarship, which includes: Tuition, Compulsory Fees and Required Textbooks.
The WHL provides the top young hockey talent in western Canada and the United States with the opportunity to develop their skills on the ice at the highest possible level, without compromising their academic goals. The WHL is committed to recognizing academic excellence.
The T-Birds next home game is Saturday, January 19, against the Victoria Royals at 6:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center. Single game tickets are on sale online on the T-Birds website and at the accesso ShoWare Center box office.
The T-Birds are now taking orders for Flex-24 Ticket packages. Fans that purchase the 24-Flex Ticket Package will be able to select any available premium seat for any game, in any ticket combination, during the 2018-19 season.
