T-Birds radio broadcasts now in HD

Seattle, October 1, 2007 - Seattle Thunderbirds Vice-President Colin Campbell today announced T-Birds radio broadcasts can now be heard on High-Definition (HD) radio throughout nine counties in Washington.
T-Birds radio play-by-play broadcasts are now heard in Seattle on KKNW 1150 AM, which is owned by Sandusky Radio.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for the T-Birds to be involved in HD technology," said Campbell. "Our radio broadcasts will now reach a wider audience and our fans in areas that have had trouble receiving KKNW's signal now have a new way to hear our games."
"We have just begun to release the potential of HD Radio and we are proud to be working with the Thunderbirds in uncovering one of these possibilities," said Marc Kaye, Vice President and General Manager of Sandusky Radio Seattle. "The Thunderbirds games broadcast on KKNW 1150 AM will also, for the very first time, be rebroadcast on HD Radio. We believe this is the first time in the country that a sports franchise will have its play-by-play broadcast in High Definition."
To receive the HD signal for the T-Birds play-by-play broadcasts you must have an HD radio tuned to the KWJZ signal at 98.9 MHz and set the radio to HD-2. The radio will display KKNW HD-2.
The HD-2 signal of KWJZ 98.9 covers Thurston, Pierce, King, Snohomish, Skagit, Island, Kitsap, Jefferson and parts of East Clallam County.
The HD-2 broadcast is a strong, crystal clear and static free signal that expands the KKNW 1150 AM signal many times over.
The T-Birds next game is Friday, October 5, at the Kelowna Rockets at 7 p.m. in the first game of a home- and-home series. The two teams play in KeyArena on Saturday, October 6, at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the series.
Season tickets are currently on sale for 2007-08 at KeyArena. Fans purchasing 2007-08 season tickets will have the highest seating priority for the 2008-09 season as the Thunderbirds open the new Kent Events Center.
