Switchbacks to Play in Open Cup Wednesday

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Monday, May 18, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC will play in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup this Wednesday.

The Switchbacks FC will take on Harpo's, which is a pub club from Boulder. Harpo's are living the amateur club dream after beating Brigham Young University's men's soccer team to get to this round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The match will be Wednesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at Sand Creek Stadium.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is seen as U.S. Soccer's National Club Championship. It is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams that are affiliated with U.S. Soccer, and dates back to 1914.

The winner of the Switchbacks FC match on Wednesday will go on to play the winner of the Real Monarchs SLC vs. Long Island Rough Riders Soccer, on the winner's home pitch.
