Colorado Springs, CO (May 27, 2017) - After a tough start to the match, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks fought back against red-hot Reno 1868 FC to earn a tough fought point at home.

Looking to bounce back following a tough string of road games, the Switchbacks finally returned home to Weidner Field. Reno look strong right out of the gate to continue their recent form. Reno controlled 61% of the possession in the first half with the majority of it coming in the final third. Hoppenot would be the first to break down the Switchbacks backline in the 37th minute. It would only take Dany Kelly five more minutes to notch his league-leading 10th goal of the season. Reno would continue to hold and take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half told a different story and Steve Trittschuh's side came out of the break much more aggressive than the first half. Sean McFarlane would play a perfect ball into Aaron King who settled it and found the back of the net to get one back for the Switchbacks in the 50th minute. Jordan Burt would level it up just seven minutes later as Kevaughn Frater headed it to Burt who finished from inside the six-yard box. Reno would go ahead in the 85th minute as Hoppenot grabbed his second. It would be man of the match Jordan Burt who would head home his second of the match in the 88th-minute following an Eddy Prugh pass. The Switchbacks would hold on to finish the match in a 3-3 draw.

"We came out really slow. But, we bounced back in the second half with a lot of energy," said Jordan Burt. "Everyone pressed hard and did the little things right."

"The three goals we gave up are indicative of what we've been doing, just some poor individual mistakes.," said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "I give the guys credit to fight back with good character and hopefully, we can build on this result."

The Switchbacks will face Energy FC at Weidner Field on May 31st at 7:00 P.M in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Tickets start at just $5
