Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC suffer a disappointing loss after 23 days of no play. The Switchbacks ended their road match against Monterey Bay F.C 4-2, their first road loss in the 2022 season.

The Switchbacks FC started the first half on the back foot, and while they held the majority of possession in the game, with 63% to Monterey's 36%, they were unable to convert that possession into chances. Both Hadji Barry and Jimmy Ockford saw big chances in the opening minutes of the game that were ultimately deflected away by Monterey Bay F.C's goalkeeper Dallas Jaye. In the 12' the Switchbacks had another chance as Barry's cross landed at the left foot of #8 Zach Zandi, ultimately going wide.

The first on the board for the night was Monterey Bay F.C in the 44', as Hughart Roberts heads it in right up against the goal line off a set piece assist from Chase Boone. Only six minutes into the second half, Monterey would double their lead in a bottom left cross by Sam Gleadle. The Switchbacks' Barry would find his own way to the net only one minute later, as a through ball from Ngalina had Barry sending the ball flying down passed Jaye from the center of the goal box.

The Switchbacks would earn a free kick after a foul on Monterey as James Murphy pushed Switchbacks #6 Cam Lindley to the ground after play had been whistled down, but unfortunately Barry's right footed kick would get tackled down by the Monterey wall. The Switchbacks had several other chances in the next few minutes, none that they are able to convert, and Monterey would earn goal number three in the 73'.

#23 Elvis Amoh would earn a second goal for the Switchbacks in the 97', getting on the ball at the goal line off a headed pass from #5 Matt Mahoney off a set piece situation, but it wouldn't be enough for the Colorado Springs team, and the final score ultimately ended with them two goals down from Monterey's four total.
