July 18, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Walla Walla, Wa- The Sweets continued the Borleske late inning magic in game two against the Bend Elks with a 7-6 walk-off win in the ninth. The win tied the series at 1-1.

Walla Walla exploded for five runs in the third inning to start out the scoring. The RBI were picked up by Connor Kopach, Myles Hager, Nick Halamandaris and Kyle Nixon. Nixon hit a two-run home run that scored Halamandaris and made the score 5-0. All five runs came with two outs.

The Elks fought back inning by inning as they scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game. The Sweets added a run in the fifth as well and they were tied at sixth into the ninth inning.

In the ninth the Elks recorded two outs following a lead-off walk by Alex McKenna. Then, Halamandaris and Nixon worked back-to-back walks and that set up the bases loaded for Parker Coss. He grounded an 0-1 pitch back up the middle that hit off of the shortstop's glove and went into center field. McKenna scored easily and the Sweets walked it off for the sixth time this season.

Cooper Powell, the starting pitcher for the Sweets, pitched very well as he through five innings. He struck out five and retired the first 10 hitters he faced. He only allowed three runs to the top offense in the West Coast League.

The Sweets and the Elks will match-up for the rubber game of the series tomorrow at 7:05.
