
SwampDogs' Rally Falls Short in Petersburg

Petersburg, Va. - The SwampDogs had the tying run on third base in the ninth inning but failed to score, falling on the road 8-7 to the Petersburg Generals.
The SwampDogs lineup continues to carry much of the load but the bats could not overcome a four run deficit after the fifth inning while falling to 2-5 on the young season.
Trey Vickers (Wichita State) went 3-5 in the middle of the rally as the 'Dogs scored six run in the final four innings to pull tight but could not come through with the big hit to break through.
Cody Smith (Chowan) is hung with the loss to fall to 0-1. Forest Arnold earned the win for Petersburg while allowing four runs in seven innings.
The SwampDogs return home after the road trip to host the Morehead City Marlins Thursday night at The Swamp. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
