Wilson Tobs News Release

WILSON, N.C. - After a rain delay of 80 minutes, the Fayetteville SwampDogs were able to muster more offense than the home stadning Wilson Tobs earning a 3-0 victory on Friday night at Historic Fleming Stadium.

Fayetteville (13-8) was able to cash in on a lead-off single against Ryan Yuengel (L, 0-2) in the second inning as Blake Beemer legged out an infield single to plate Sal Giardina and give the SwampDogs a lead they would not relinquish.

After runs in the sixth and seventh, Fayetteville saw its margin swoon to 3-0 before the Tobs had a couple of chances to rally.

In the eighth, Wilson (7-15) had the first two reach against Jimmie Davis (W, 1-1), however a double play erased any shot at a Tobs rally.

Tyler Brunnemann (S, 1) came on to work the ninth inning and after getting the lead-off hitter, loaded the bases before getting Zach Houhins to fly to center to end the contest and lift Fayetteville to a 3-0 lead.

The Tobs hit the road for a four game, five-day road trip beginning on Saturday night when they travel to Historic Hicks Field to battle with the Edenton Steamers. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
