SwampBats Felled by Valley

Valley took the lead for good in the fifth inning as a pair of a doubles started the inning and Jaron Robinson (Murray State) hit a three-run blast off of Keene starter Jake McLinskey to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.

McLinskey (Kennesaw State) gave up the three runs on six hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts in 5.0 IP and was dealt the loss, dropping to 0-2 on the summer.

Mitchell Golden's (Georgia Southern) solo shot in the home half of the third off of Valley starter Endy Morales (Southern New Hampshire) gave the SwampBats a 1-0 lead. The home run was Golden's first of the summer.

Morales (3-0) gave up the one run on four hits while walking three and fanning three in five innings of work.

The Blue Sox broke the game open with three home runs as part of a six-run sixth inning to make it a 9-1 game. Robinson, Ciaran Devenney (Mercer County CC) and Jaylen Smith (Kennesaw State) hit the home runs in the frame.

Keene's Brandon Smith (Dayton) delivered a two-run double as part of a four-run seventh inning that cut the lead in half to 9-5. Those were the 'Bats first runs since the bottom of the third inning.

Smith (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Cordell Dunn Jr. (Grayson College) who was also 2-4 both had multi-hit games for the SwampBats, while RHP Heibert Romero (Southeastern) allowed three hits and fanned five over three shutout innings of relief.

The SwampBats look to get back on the winning track when they head to Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams to battle the SteepleCats on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. RHP Ian Exposito (1-1, 4.50) out of St. Thomas University will get the start for Keene.
