Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHLs' Hartford Wolf Pack, are pleased to announce that nearly $3,000 has been raised by Swamp Rabbits fans to donate to the American Heart Association of Upstate South Carolina.

The donation stems from a number of initiatives throughout the 2015-16 season, including CauseMates, Carrots for Caring, and the Swamp Rabbits' Heart Walk team as the organization continues to support the fight against heart disease.

"We're very thankful for the generosity of the Swamp Rabbits fan base and family that we're able to donate this amount of money to the American Heart Association," said Megan Dotson, Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Support of the Swamp Rabbits. "Due to the committed donors who took each initiative to a whole new level, we were able to help those battling heart disease locally and across the United States. We are humbled to have an opportunity to play such a small part in this wonderful outpouring of support."

On Jan. 7, the Swamp Rabbits launched their Carrots for Caring initiative with the help of Anderson Trucking Services (ATS). The program raised more than $800 during the month of February alone and continues to be one of the most unique post-game rituals among any minor league team. Fans are encouraged to participate in the program by making a $1 donation on the concourse at each home game and for each dollar donated, fans will receive a foam carrot to be used at the end of the contest, win or lose.

The Swamp Rabbits also teamed up with CauseMates for their game against South Carolina on Feb. 20 to raise money for the fight against heart disease in the Upstate. Fans were asked to pledge an amount via Causemates.com for every point captain Bretton Cameron collected in the game, or for every shot the Swamp Rabbits recorded. The program yielded more than $430 in donations.
