Mallards Sign Rookie Tate, Set Playoff Roster

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Brent Tate, who has been added to the team's ECHL Kelly Cup playoff roster, the Mallards announced today.

Tate, a 24-year old rookie, scored four goals and added seven assists for 11 points in 36 games as a senior at Bowling Green this season before joining the ECHL's Toledo Walleye for three games at the end of the campaign.

Tate produced 27 goals, 28 assists and 55 points in 117 career collegiate games. The 6' 2", 187-pound, Canton, Michigan native played three seasons in the junior ranks for the United States Hockey League's Lincoln Stars before heading to BGSU.

Tate is one of 19 players on the Mallards' active playoff roster, which is comprised of forwards Tate, Olivier Archambault, Brady Brassart, Matt Carey, Trevor Cox, Jordan Knackstedt, Jared Knight, Matt Neal, Vladimir Nikiforov and Sam Warning; defensemen Austin Coldwell, Kevin Gibson, Alex Gudbranson, Darren McMillan, Mike Monfredo and Richard Nedomlel; forward/defenseman Kyle Follmer; and goaltenders Brody Hoffman and P.J. Musico.

Two more players- forwards Anthony Collins and Tanner Eberle- are on the team's reserve list and are eligible to be moved to the active roster during the playoffs. The Mallards will also begin the postseason with five players on the playoff eligible list. Forward Raphael Bussieres; defensemen Jake Baker and Guillaume Gelinas; and goaltender Steve Michalek are currently on American Hockey League rosters and will be available to take the ice for the Mallards in the postseason should they return to the club. Forward Zach Pochiro is also on the playoff eligible list but is expected to miss the postseason due to injury.

The Mallards head to Missouri Saturday and Sunday for games one and two of their best-of seven Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Mavericks. The Mallards return home for game three on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:35 p.m. and game four on Friday, April 22 at 7:05 p.m. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday night, April 23 at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center. Should a sixth game be required, the series will shift back to Missouri on Tuesday, April 26. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Mavericks would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 27.

Tickets for Mallards first round home games are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000, the Mallards announced. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the second period. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $24.
