Charleston Swamp Foxes News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Two months out from the start of preseason camps, the Charleston Swamp Foxes today announced the assignment of five players from the arenafootball2 league offices, boosting the roster count to 17. Former Foxes Dwayne Wilmot and Hosea Laney, Terrance Quattlebaum, Chris Davis, and Chad Revelle have all been assigned to play in Charleston for the 2003 season.

Wilmot, a 5-11, 205-pound wide receiver/defensive back led the Swamp Foxes in scoring in 2002, tallying 126 points with 21 touchdowns. He was Charleston's leading receiver, hauling in 80 catches for 1,025 yards (12.8 yds./rec.) and 20 receiving TD's. Wilmot also averaged 18.1 yards per kick return, second only to Swamp Fox all-time return leader Billy Cook, with one touchdown.

In addition to his offensive accolades, Wilmot, who spent most of his playing time as the offensive specialist, also recorded an interception and 12.5 tackles. In college, he led the University of Maine in receiving yards in 2000, earning him recognition as a Division I-AA All-American. After college Wilmot signed a free-agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

Quattlebaum is a wide receiver/defensive back that played for New Haven of the af2 in 2002. The Irmo, SC native ranked second on the team in receiving and scoring for the Ninjas while only playing in eight games. He made 45 receptions for 494 yards, an average of 61.8 yards per game for 96 points.

Last season, in a win over the Norfolk Nighthawks, Quattlebaum scored touchdowns receiving, on a kickoff, and a missed field goal return tallying 226 all-purpose yards.

Quattlebaum attended West Virginia State College where he was a two-sport standout. He led the team in all-purpose yards for three consecutive years in addition to having caught 52 passes in 2000. In track, Quattlebaum placed third in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Championship in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash his senior year.

Davis, a 6-3, 210-pound wide receiver/defensive back, is a two-year veteran of the af2. He played in three games last season with the Augusta Stallions, tallying six total tackles, four of which were solo stops. He briefly played for Tallahassee in 2001. Davis is a graduate of Florida A&M University.

The two additional assignments for the Swamp Foxes include Chad Revelle and the reassignment of Hosea Laney. Revelle went to North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC before withdrawing to pursue other interests. He is a strong athlete who operates his own gyms in North Carolina. Laney was a late season addition for the Swamp Foxes in 2002. A graduate of Fort Valley State, he spent the tail end of last season in camp learning the system.

"Three of the five assignments announced today have Arena Football experience, which is a great advantage when trying to build a team," said head coach Rik Richards on the roster additions. "(Dwayne) Wilmot is a tremendous athlete who knows the area after last season. Having a playmaker like him back is great for us. Terrence Quattlebaum and Chris Davis are both top-level athletes who were without a place to play. Quattlebaum has the capability to be one of our top receivers and Davis is a superb athlete who knows the indoor game."

He added, "(Hosea) Laney came to us late last season when we were getting guys back from injury and we really didn't have a roster slot open. However, his time in camp in 2002 was well spent as he learned some of our systems. He had the ability to play for us, but the timing was off. Revelle is a strong kid who has a good chance of sticking on our roster. He knows what it takes to get into and to stay in playing shape."

Season tickets for the 2003 season, which kicks off on April 5, are currently on sale. For more information, please contact the Swamp Foxes' office at (843) 554-4321.
