Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats struggles continued on Saturday night as Keene was shutout by the Mountaineers 9-0.
John Miles, the starting pitcher for the Mountaineers twirled a gem. He went six innings, only giving up two hits along the way. He didn't allow a walk and struck out five Swamp Bats.
Nick Naradowy came on to finish off the rest of the game, pitching a scoreless 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. The Swamp Bats finished with just three hits on the night
Jordan Simons was on the bump for Swamp Bats making his first start of the year. He pitched well through three innings but then the flood gates opened up. The Mountaineers scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and then two more in the bottom of the fifth. Simons didn't make it out of the fifth as another Swamp Bat starter failed to last past the fifth inning.
Sam Triece, Matthew Clancy, and Wales Toney pitched the final innings for Keene. Triece threw a scoreless inning a third through the sixth, Clancy gave up three runs in the seventh, and Toney pitched a scoreless eighth.
The loss drops Keene's record to 2-9 on the season, moving them seven games behind first-place Vermont. The Swamp Bats will have an off day on Sunday and then will be back on the road on Monday at North Adams to take on the Steeple Cats.
