Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The early season woes for the Swamp Bats continued Wednesday night in Saratoga, falling to the Brigade 6-1.
The Swamp Bats have struggled to find consistency from their starting pitching and the trend continued on Wednesday with David Sosebee. The right-hander from the University of Georgia gave up six runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings.
Sosebee ran into trouble in the fourth inning, giving up back to back RBI hits from Dylan Butler and Matt Beaty opening up a 3-0 lead. The Brigade tacked on three more in the sixth from Zach Zott's two run double and an RBI single from Craig McConaughey.
Saratoga's starter John Prendergast was stellar, tossing six scoreless innings, limiting Keene to just four hits. Kevin Doherty and Cameron Tekker took care of things the rest of the way for the Brigade, with Keene only scoring once in the final three frames.
The Swamp Bat's only run came on a seventh inning sacrifice fly from JP Sportman, but that was all Keene could scratch across in this one.
The loss drops the Swamp Bat's record to 2-6. Keene will be back at home on Thursday night, against the Ocean State Waves. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
