Keene Swamp Bats News Release

KEENE, N.H. - A solo home run by Brady Sheetz (Hartford) in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Jim Voyles (Florida State) gave the Keene Swamp Bats a 7-6 victory over the North Adams SteepleCats in the conclusion of Monday's suspended game.

It was the second home run of the game for Sheetz.

A five run bottom of the seventh inning tied the game up at six for Keene on Monday before the game was called. The Swamp Bats sent 10 men to the plate in the inning.

North Adams struck first in the first inning when Zach Lucas (Louisville) scored on a passed ball by Coman. They added another run in the second inning when Richardson scored on a wild pitch all the way from second to give the SteepleCats a 2-0 lead.

Richardson was at it again as he lead-off the fourth inning with a solo home run to increase the SteepleCats lead to 3-0. In the top half of the fifth inning Brad Anderson (Pepperdine) reached on an error by shortstop Jarred Mederos (St. John's) allowing JC Cardenas (Barry) to score the fourth North Adams run of the day.

The Swamp Bats finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Zach Lauricella reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded allowing Brady Sheetz (Hartford) to score Keene's first run of the ballgame. The Swamp Bats were unable to score any more runs in the sixth inning despite having the bases loaded and nobody out.

North Adams came right back however in the top of the seventh grabbing two more runs on an Anthony Papio (Maryland) two-run home run extended the SteepleCats lead to 6-1.

The Swamp Bats host the Ocean State Waves later tonight with first pitch at 6:30. It will resume the game with the Waves from July 23. Admission to the game is free for all fans.
