Swamp Bat’s Win Streak Ends At Six, Fall To North Adams 5-4

July 13, 2013 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Keene Swamp Bats News Release

The Swamp Bats couldn't ride their hot streak any longer as they were defeated by the North Adams SteepleCats on Saturday night 5-4.

Every time that the Steeple Cats scored, Keene had a response.

Down 1-0 in the second inning, Hofstra's Robbie Cafiero hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Then again down one run in the fifth, JP Sportman of Central Connecticut State University, roped an RBI double to tie the game again.

But after North Adams scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, Keene could only scratch across two more runs in the top of the sixth, which would see the score move and stay at 5-4

David Sosebee, from the University of Georgia, pitched well against North Adams in game one of the doubleheader on July 6th against the SteepleCats at Alumni Field, but the right-hander did not fare so well on Saturday night at Joe Wolf Field.

Sosebee (1-2) went four and two thirds inning, surrendering five runs on nine hits and one walk.

Sam Triece relieved Sosebee and went the rest of the way, pitching a scoreless three innings to keep the game at 5-4.

The loss snaps Keene's six game winning streak and drops the Swamp Bat's record to 11-13. Keene will be back in North Adams to face the SteepleCats again on Sunday evening. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
