NECBL Has Stand out at Each Level of Baseball
July 13, 2013 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) News Release
For the second year in a row, the New England Collegiate Baseball League proudly had an alumnus achieve All-Star or All-American status in every level of college or professional baseball.
Starting with Texas Ranger closer Joe Nathan, a shortstop for the 1994 Fairfield Stallions, making his sixth Major League All-Star team, the NECBL had an All-Star as well in Triple-A, Double-A, High-A, Class A and the Independent Leagues.
The NECBL also pulled off a rare Triple Crown, having an alumnus earn All-American honors in Divisions I, II and III.
Several players won significant hardware in the NECBL before earning All-Star or All-American accolades. Joe Nathan was the 1994 NECBL Defensive Player of the Year. Danny Collins (2012), Jim Murphy (2006), Cyle Hankerd (2005) and Jim Negrych (2004) were past NECBL MVPs. Mark Appel was the 2010 NECBL Top Prospect; Andres Perez won that award in 2006.
The NECBL congratulates all of the alumni in its "Pyramid of Success", whose seasons validate the elite caliber of baseball being played in The New England League:
