Sussex Skyhawks News Release
The Skyhawks looked sharp out of the gates taking a 3-1 lead after 3 innings of play, but it would not last.
The Skyhawks seemed poised to break out but Larry Bethea was thrown out at home to end the 4th inning, even though he appeared to touch home plate before being tagged, however the umpire did not think so. The Skyhawks offense pounded out 12 hits, unfortunately for them 10 of them came in the first 5 innings off of Grays starter Elliot Shaw. The Grays bullpen was stellar as they allowed only 2 hits over 4 1/3 shutout innings. Skyhawks starter Ryan Dittfurth was pitching well until he gave up 4 runs in the fifth inning. Jerry Dunn continued his terrific season for the Grays, by saving his ninth game of the season.
Come check out the Skyhawks Sunday afternoon at 2:05 as they conclude their series with the Grays. Adam Hanson (1-1) will pitch for the Grays against Edisbel Benitez (2-4) for the Skyhawks.
