Mississippi Surge News Release

Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Surge sign former Sea Wolves leading goal scorer, Anthony Battaglia. Battaglia played for the Mississippi Sea Wolves in from 2003-2005, stretching his success across two seasons.

"We are excited to add him to the team," said Surge Head Coach Jeff Bes, "He's a talented hockey player who will bring veteran leadership to our roster."

"It feels good being back on the ice in the SPHL," said Battaglia after practice, "I feel like I'm playing for my home team. It's been a while since I've played in the Coliseum, and I'm looking forward to it. The fans always made me feel at home; it always felt a bit like a family."

When asked what he thought he could contribute to the Surge at this point in the season, Anthony Battaglia said he would bring experience, leadership, and hopefully a boost in scoring to help the team win more games down the stretch.

You may know Anthony from his success in winning the CBS hit show, "The Amazing Race" or his days playing in the ECHL, CHL, AHL, or even as the exciting force he was for the Mississippi Seawolves, but tomorrow you will remember him as the newest member of your Mississippi Surge.
