Surge Rally Comes up Short in Tulsa

Tulsa, OK - Mark Contreras ninth inning home run was not enough as the visiting Wichita Wind Surge rally fell short as Tulsa held on 4-3 to take a two games to one lead in the series.

Jacob Amaya put Tulsa on the scoreboard in the third inning with a two-run home run. The Drillers added another run in the inning on an RBI single from Kody Hoese.

The Surge scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning on an RBI double from Andrew Bechtold and an RBI from Jose Miranda to the cut the lead to one.

Tulsa added a run in the eighth inning to extend the lead on a Devin Mann solo home run. Wichita's rally fell short with Zach Willeman retiring the final three batters after allowing the Contreras home run and a single from Jermaine Palacios.

Aaron Ochseinbein earned the win in relief and Bryan Sammons takes the loss for Wichita.

Wichita is 9-6 on the season and entered play in first place by one game over Arkansas.

NOTES- Jose Miranda leads the league with five home runs and is third with a .364 batting average. Jermaine Palacios has reached base in fourteen consecutive games. Wichita drops to 4-3 in one run games.

The Wind Surge will return to Riverfront Stadium after the upcoming road trip from May 25th-30th, hosting the Springfield Cardinals, Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
