ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (July 15, 2003) â Ric Johnson scored what proved to be the winning run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning to lift the Atlantic City Surf over the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon in front of 4,325 fans at the Sandcastle.
Johnson led off the seventh with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Brandon Jackson. With two outs, reliever Kevin McClain threw a breaking ball wide of the plate that skipped to the backstop and allowed Johnson to score.
Surf starter Maximo Nunez (1-1) tossed a stellar game, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three to pick up his first win of the season.
Brandon Jackson had an RBI groundout in the first inning and Raul Marval laced a one-run double for Atlantic City's second run in the second inning.
Javier Sein had a solo homer for Pennsylvania while Asbel Ortiz added an RBI double, both in the second inning.
The victory extended the Surf's winning streak to a season-high four games.
ON DECK: The Surf and the Road Warriors conclude their series with a "Little Person's Special" on Wednesday, July 16, at 11:05 a.m., at the Sandcastle.
