Surf Dawgs Fall To Outlaws 7-3

SAN DIEGO - What looked like a close game from the early stages was altered by five unearned runs and six errors, including four in the seventh inning that blew open a one run game in a 7-3 defeat to the Chico Outlaws (9-10).
The Outlaws drew first, scoring a run in the first inning. After loading the bases with one out, Surf Dawgs (7-11) starting pitcher Aaron Wilson walked Craig Kuzmic to force in a run and make it 1-0 Chico. Wilson worked himself out of further damage and didn't allow another run to score in the first.
San Diego would get their scoring underway in the bottom of the third inning. Five consecutive, singles starting with third baseman Victor Roldan, who went 3-for-4, plated three runs for the Surf Dawgs and they took the lead 3-1.
Chico wasn't done scoring yet, with two out in the top of the fifth Mike Mallory tripled and drove in Bobby Gandolfo who walked to make it 3-2 San Diego. Kuzmic then hit a grounder to second that ate up Adam Mandel. Mallory scored on the play and after four and a half, the game was tied 3-3.
The deciding run came in the sixth. Lino Garcia walked to lead off the inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly. But the hotly contested game felt apart in the seventh. Will Carr (0-1) gave up three unearned runs in the seventh on the four errors.
The Surf Dawgs hope to turn it around tomorrow in their rematch tomorrow against Chico at 7:05 PT. Pitching for the Surf Dawgs tomorrow is Justin Ottman (1-1, 3.06) who is coming off a great start in which he allowed one run in six innings. He will be opposed by Robert Anaya (0-1, 2.79 ERA).
