Orange County Flyers News Release

In the bottom half of the sixth inning Flyers third baseman, Bo Banach, hit a squibber that got him farther than he would've thought. With Banach hustling down the line the Silver Sox pitcher Mike Spiegel overthrew his first baseman allowing two runs to score and Banach made it all the way around the bases, but was thrown out at home. The extra runs gave the Flyers a 7-4 lead, which would be instrumental in their 9-6 win.

The game started off strangely enough as the Flyers scored three runs thanks to three wild pitches by Spiegel and a ground out by Chad Chop.

Flyers' shortstop Matt Ferrara and left fielder Rich Pohle homered in the second and third respectively. Pohle's homer came after the Silver Sox scored four in the top half of the third on two, two-run homers by C.J. Lang and Edgar Varela.

Flyer starter Chris Jakubauskas pitched a strong seven innings despite hitting a rough spot in the fourth.

The game ended the same way it began on a crazy note. With the bases loaded, Flyers closer Matt Lincoln struck out the league's leading hitter Marcus Jensen on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded.

The Flyers improved to 10-0 when they score 5 runs or more.

The rubber game of the series is tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Goodwin Field. With the win, the Flyers are only 3 and a 1/2 games behind the Silver Sox.
