Quebec City - DH Patrick Scalabrini went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI as the Quebec Capitales overcame a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Atlantic City Surf, 8-6, in Game Two of the Can-Am League's first-round best-of-five series at Stade de Quebec, putting the Capitales ahead two games to none.

Atlantic City scored a run in the first on LF Joe Burke's solo home run, while Quebec tied the game up with Scalabrini's sacrifice fly in its half of the frame. The Surf responded with four in the second, courtesy of four consecutive RBI singles by Burke, DH Clyde Williams, C William Plaza and 1B Eddie Kim. Atlantic City then made it a 6-1 game in the third on 3B Gil Zayas' solo dinger.

The Capitales started their comeback in the bottom of the third, adding a pair on RF Alex Nunez's two-run double. They then took the lead in the fourth on CF Goefrey Tomlinson's RBI double and Scalabrini's three-run blast, making it a 7-6 Quebec lead.

Neither team was able to generate any additional offense until the eighth, when the Capitales added an insurance run on Tomlinson's sacrifice fly.

Karl Gelinas (1-0) labored through six innings but was credited with the victory, allowing six runs on 11 hits in six innings of work, striking out four. Ivan Blanco picked up the save, limiting the Surf to just one hit in the final three innings, striking out three. For Atlantic City, Brian Rodaway (0-1) registered the loss, giving up seven runs in three and two-thirds innings pitched. J.C. Huguet pitched serviceably out of the bullpen for the Surf, allowing a run on four hits in four innings.

Zayas, making his first postseason appearance, went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for the Surf, while Burke, Williams, Plaza and Kim each had two hits. For Quebec, Tomlinson, Scalabrini, Nunez and SS Issael Gonzalez all had a pair of hits.

The series shifts to Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City on Friday, in a game the Surf must win to stay alive. Rory Shortell, who led the Surf with 11 victories during the regular season, faces the Capitales' Luis Valdez.
