GREENVILLE, S.C. â Jason Repko led off the game with a home run, setting the tone for the Suns in a 9-0 victory Saturday in front of 2,191 fans at Municipal Stadium.
Repko's blast off Braves starter Roman Colon was the catalyst for a four-run first inning. Tarrik Brock doubled home Nick Alvarez and Derek Michaelis smacked a two-run double to pace the Suns (19-22) to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Colon (3-3) cruised until the sixth inning when Brennan King scored moments before Jesus Feliciano was erased in a rundown. He allowed five runs and seven hits over six innings while earning the loss.
Joel Hanrahan (5-1) shut out the Braves over five innings, fanning seven and scattering four hits. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in eight of his nine starts this season. Augustin Montero and Will McCrotty completed the last four innings, allowing one hit and no runs over that span.
The Suns padded their lead with four runs off reliever Kevin Barry in the seventh. Alvarez tripled home David Detienne to give Jacksonville a 6-0 lead. Alvarez had three hits to lead the Suns. Victor Diaz doubled home Alvarez and then Michaelis smacked another two-run double to cap the scoring.
The Braves (18-23) lost for the eighth time in nine games and managed five hits off Suns pitching. Greenville reached third only once, when they loaded the bases in the fifth inning.
Suns right-hander Tommy Farmer (2-2, 3.00 ERA) is scheduled to face Braves righty Matt Belisle (1-5, 4.25) at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Municipal Stadium.
