Sevierville, Tenn. -Tennessee Smokies (25-16) came back from a 5-3 deficit to win 6-5 in extra innings against the Chattanooga Lookouts (17-24) Saturday night at Smokies Park. The game was delayed by rain at the outset for 89 minutes and the ending delayed thanks to clutch hitting by Corey Erickson.

The Smokies bats took over from there. In the 9th inning Erickson sent a two-run shot over the left field wall that tied the game, scoring Scott Krause. Krause went 3-4 in with two runs and two RBI.

Tied 5-5 in the bottom of the tenth, Caonabo Cosme reached base on an error by shortstop Santiago Perez. Cosme scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Kevan Burns and made a winner out of reliever Mike Lyons (1-1) and a loser of reliever David Gil (1-1).

In his first start since being called up from Class A Palm Beach, Josh Pearce (0-0) threw seven strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Pearce pitched his way to a 3-2 lead going into the eighth inning when he gave way to reliever Kevin Sprague. With two outs in the inning, Sprague gave up a two out walk followed by a two run home run by Stephen Smitherman to give the Lookouts their first lead of the game. With two more hits and one more run, the Lookouts took the lead 5-3.

The Smokies aim for a series split on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's matchup will feature Jeremy Cummings facing the Lookouts John Koronka.
