Hagerstown Suns News Release
Hagerstown, MD:For the fourth time this year the Hagerstown Suns scored five or more runs in an inning against the Lakewood Blueclaws. This time it was six runs in the fifth, highlighted by back to back homeruns by Wilson Batista and Grant Psomas. Batista's was a three run shot that gave the Suns the lead, which they held on to for a 7-3 win.
Jeff Landing (5-3) was the beneficiary of that big inning, and earned his fifth win of the season. Landing pitched to two batters in the sixth before being relieved by Bo Bowman. Landing gave up three runs on five hits, and Bowman kept the Suns in the lead with two scoreless innings. Marcelo Perez picked up his fifth save after facing the minimum over the final two innings.
Hagerstown (33-19) had nine hits including two by Ambiorix Concepcion. Concepcion got the Suns first hit off of Lakewood's starter LHP Derek Griffith to start the fifth. He cam around to score the first run of the inning on a double by Jesus Flores. Russ Triplett, playing in his first game of the year, singled home Flores to tie the game at 2-2. Then Batista and Psomas hit their long balls. Concepcion scored an insurance run in the eighth with a base hit error, stolen base, and wild pitch.
Thursday at 6:35pm will be the series and homestand finale for the Suns. Lakewood (17-36) sends RHP Max De La Cruz to the hill against RHP Jose Sanchez for the Suns. Sanchez leads the league with nine wins, while De La Cruz leads the league in losses with seven. It's a Thirsty Thursday home game for Hagerstown. For tickets call 301-791-6266.
