Ryan Russ Named Player of the Week

Columbus Catfish News Release


Columbus, GA – Columbus Catfish OF Ryan Russ was recently named the BC Powder South Atlantic League Batter of the Week from May 23-May 29. Over the six-day period Russ batted .600 (12 for 20) with three doubles, two triples, a home run, eight RBI and eight runs scored. Russ also posted a .650 slugging percentage and a 1.050 slugging percentage. Russ is the first Catfish player to win this honor in 2005.

The Catfish will play a double-header against Greenville Bombers (Boston Red Sox) tomorrow night in Greenville. The game can be heard on WDAK 540 am with Chad Goldberg. The Catfish return home on Friday, June 3rd at 7:00pm to begin a four-game series with the Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies). On Saturday, June 4th it is Faith Night at Golden Park as the Catfish welcome Christian Rock star Nate Sallie. Gates will open at 5:00pm with a pre-game concert.
