
Suns Swept by Blues in Double Header

PITTSFIELD, MA (August 6, 2015) - The Pittsfield Suns were swept by the Bristol Blues in two 7-inning games on Thursday evening at Wahconah Park. The Blues outscored the Suns 7-1 in the first game and 2-1 in the second. The losses dropped Pittsfield into the eighth and final playoff position, with three games remaining in the regular season.
Bristol opened up the scoring in the first inning after a single by David Strong, a wild pitch from Suns starter Adam Erkis, and a single by Gerrad Rohan to plate the runner, giving the Blues a 1-0 advantage.
Despite tying it up in the fifth inning after a double by Josh Hassell and a single by Tyler Lyne, the Suns never had a chance, as they would relinquish three runs in each the sixth and seventh inning and were beaten 7-1 in seven innings.
Steve Wallace was the winner of Game One, pitching all seven innings, giving up seven hits, one run, two walks and striking out three. Billy Humes was charged with the loss.
Pittsfield kept Game Two close, but could not muster an extra two runs, eventually falling to Bristol 2-1.
Bristol was first on the board again in the first inning when a lead off triple by Dylan Morris and a single by Tyler Packanik scored a run, to make it 1-0.
The Suns tied it up in the fifth inning, Jordan Pallazola led off the inning with a double an would eventually score on a single by Matt Morales. That was the only run the Suns could get in Game Two. They would leave a total of nine runners on base in Game Two, including leaving the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
Ryan Lauria was the victor in Game Two giving up six hits, one run, no walks and striking out one in five innings of work. Suns Dom Grillo would be charged with the loss after coming in in the sixth inning to relieve starter Jamin McCann.
The Suns last regular season home game will be Friday, August 7 at 7 PM. Gates will open at 6 PM and the final Fireworks Spectacular will follow the conclusion of the game. For tickets please call (413)445-7867 or visit pittsfieldsuns.com.
