
Suns Shut out Braves 4-0 on Saturday Night

Hagerstown, MD - Nick Raquet earned his third quality start of the season and Aldrem Corredor homered as the Hagerstown Suns shutout the Rome Braves 4-0 on Saturday night. The Suns improve to 7-16 and will play the series finale against Rome on Sunday with a 2:05 PM first pitch at Municipal Stadium.
Hagerstown took the lead in the bottom of the second against Braves starter Huascar Ynoa. Corredor walked to lead off the inning and Kameron Esthay doubled to the right-field corner to put runners at second and third. With one out, Armond Upshaw lofted a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Corredor to score and Esthay to go to third, giving the Suns a 1-0 lead. Jack Sundberg struck out to end the inning, stranding Esthay 90-feet from scoring.
Hagerstown added to their lead in the fourth to chase Ynoa from the game. With one out, Corredor hit a towering home run to right-center field to make it a 2-0 game. Corredor's first homer of the season traveled 376 feet into the visitor's bullpen.
In the seventh, the Suns doubled their lead against Braves reliever Freddy Tarnok. Upshaw led off with a walk and stole second with one out. With two outs, Yasel Antuna reached on an error, scoring Upshaw to give the Suns a 3-0 advantage. Nick Banks replaced Antuna at second as a pinch-runner and Anderson Franco singled to center, scoring Banks to give the Suns a 4-0 lead.
Raquet (2-2) earned his third quality start of the season in a winning effort, shutting out the Braves over six innings with six hits and four strikeouts. Kyle Johnston earned his first save of the year, tossing three shutout innings while holding Rome to two hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Notes: Saturday was the Suns first shutout win of the season... They are 1-2 in shutouts in 2018... Raquet leads the team with three quality starts... Hagerstown has four total quality starts this season... The Suns are 2-for-4 in save situations... Johnston and Brasher each have one save... Corredor went 57 at-bats before he hit his first home run... Raquet is the only Suns starting pitcher to have a win... Johnston has retired the first batter he's faced in each of his five appearances this season...The Suns finish the three-game series with the Rome Braves on Saturday at Hagerstown Municipal Stadium with a 2:05 PM first pitch... Saturday will be a rubber match with the series tied 1-1... It's Sunday Funday at Municipal Stadium... Kids Club members can play catch on the field before the game...
