No Luck Needed to Win Number Seven
April 28, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won game two of their series against the Columbia Fireflies 3-2 on Saturday night.
It was a rough start for the GreenJackets as they gave up two runs in the top of the first inning. After that, it was complete domination from the GreenJackets pitchers.
Jason Bahr went five innings only giving up four hits and two runs. He also struck out seven on the way to his second win of the season. CJ Gettman then got the ball out of the bullpen, only giving up one hit over two innings pitched. Then Frank Rubio came in to attempt the six out save. After a 12 pitch at bat against Jeremy Vasquez, Rubio struck him out which led him to his fourth save of the season.
At the plate, the GreenJackets had a successful night against Anthony Kay, one of the top pitchers for the Fireflies. Ryan Kirby and Orlando Garcia both drove in runs that proved to be crucial for the GreenJackets. The highlight was a solo home run by Malique Ziegler to left field in the fourth inning that tied the game at two.
In the end, the GreenJackets won their seventh in a row, their longest winning streak this season. Tomorrow they will look to sweep the Fireflies at 2 pm. It will be Giants Sunday here at SRP Park, were we pay homage to our MLB Parent club, the San Francisco Giants!
