Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD. - The Hagerstown Suns used four home runs to propel them to a 10-8 victory over the BlueClaws Saturday night.

Matt Skole's league-leading 16th homer of the season gave Hagerstown a 3-1 lead in the first inning, and Brian Goodwin added a pair of two-run homers in the 4th and 6th innings to help put the game out of reach for the Suns.

Four late runs in the 9th inning for the BlueClaws pulled them within two run of Hagerstown, but they fell just short when closer Aaron Barrett came out of the bullpen to slam to door and retire the only two batters he faced for his 9th save of the season.

Chris Duffy surpassed Maikel Franco's eight-game hitting streak from May 10-17 for the longest BlueClaws hitting streak in 2012. Duffy went 3-for-4 with a run, RBI and walk and is 16-for-33 (.485) in his currect nine-game streak. Duffy has hit safely in 24-of-26 games with Lakewood this season and has reached base safely in all 26 games with the BlueClaws.

The BlueClaws and Suns will complete their four-game series Sunday at Municipal Stadium. Ethan Stewart (3-6, 3.76) has won three consecutive starts and will be taking the hill for the BlueClaws, and he will be opposed by Hagerstown's 6-foot, 9-inch righty Alex Meyer (6-3, 3.33).The two teams will play four-game series against a different opponent before Hagerstown makes the trip to Lakewood for a five-game series June 29 - July 3.

First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
