
Suns Outlast Shorebirds in Barn-Burner, 13-11

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (22-15) turned in a 13-11 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds (18-21) in a see-saw affair at Municipal Stadium on Thursday Night. It was the Suns' season-best fifth consecutive win.
Eight of the nine batters in the Suns' starting line-up registered at least one RBI as Hagerstown pounded out 14 hits and drew nine walks against Shorebirds pitching. Cutter Dykstra enjoyed a three hit night, including his first home run of the season to lead-off the first inning. He finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBIs and a stolen base. Shortstop Jason Martinson went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs.
Suns reliever Greg Holt (1-0) earned his first win, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits with two strike outs. Todd Simko (1) earned the save, inducing a 5-4-3 double-play ball to end the game.
Delmarva's Jesse Beal (2-2) suffered the loss allowing six runs on four hits, and three walks over two-plus innings of work. Third baseman Jason Esposito blasted one of four Shorebirds home runs in the game, a grand slam, and finished his night 3-for-5. Second baseman Nicky Delmonico went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.
The Suns and Shorebirds will play game three of the series at Municipal Stadium is on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. when righty Alex Meyer (2-3) takes the ball against Delmarva's LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (1-0).
