Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
Jacksonville, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns and Carolina Mudcats played scoreless baseball Tuesday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville before a soaking rain shower settled in and suspended play during the bottom of the fourth inning.
Tuesday's game will resume Wednesday at 1:05 p.m as part of a doubleheader and will run through nine innings. The Suns will begin with a runner on first base and two out in the bottom of the fourth inning. The originally scheduled Wednesday game has been reduced to seven innings and will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Suns starter Eric Cyr had allowed only two hits in four innings of work while Mudcats starter Gaby Hernandez had allowed only two baserunners, a walk and an error, in three and two-thirds innings before the rain halted play.
Jacksonville will send LH Mike Megrew to the mound in game two of the doubleheader to face Carolina RH James Russ. Tickets for Wednesday's game are valid for both games of the doubleheader. For $13.50 fans can get a box seat, hot dog and large beverage of choice the Wednesday Businessperson's Special.
