Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts apparently have the Barons' number, as Chattanooga again flexed their offensive muscles and exhibited their pitching prowess by throwing another shutout en route to a convincing 6-0 win over Birmingham in Tuesday night action at AT&T Field.
After a two-team offensive lull, the Lookouts broke the ice in the fourth with back-to-back doubles from Enrique Cruz and Jay Garthwaite. With one run on the board, Ryan Hanigan grounded out to second, advancing Garthwaite to third. Caonabo Cosme followed with a run-resulting sac fly to left, extending the Lookouts' lead, 2-0. The Lookouts' offense kept on rolling in the fifth with two more runs. A Drew Anderson walk set-up a trio of singles from Paul Janish, Jay Garthwaite, and Ryan Hanigan. The gradual approach to scoring gave the Lookouts a 4-0 lead.
The two-run inning mode of attack was once again implemented by the Chattanooga squad in the sixth. Luis Bolivar started the inning off with a sharply hit ball to right in which he legged out for a triple. After a Marland Williams strikeout, Drew Anderson showed off his own speed by nailing an RBI triple to right. Enrique Cruz would eventually drive-in Anderson by grounding out to second.
Meanwhile, Camilo Vazquez (4-6) pitched his second straight stellar game by going seven strong innings without yielding a run. The Cuban native yielded five hits, while striking out five. He also failed to issue a single walk during the duration of the start, which was also accomplished during his last start.
Brock Till and Carlos Guevara came out of the Lookouts' bullpen to shut the door on the Barons for the remaining two innings of the game. The first place Lookouts will again host the Birmingham Barons, Wednesday at 12:15 at AT&T Field. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
