Suns Blast Jaxx for Fifth Straight Win

Jacksonville, Fla. - Lorenzo Scott, Matt Craig and Bryan Petersen all belted homeruns leading the Jacksonville Suns (6-2) to an 11-6 victory=2 0over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (4-4) in front of 8,425 on Thursday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Suns starter Willie Glen (1-1) picked up the victory, giving up three runs and nine hits over six innings of work. The 31-year-old walked three with six strikeouts in his second outing of the 2009 season. With Glen's effort, the Suns starting pitchers have pitched six innings in all eight games.

Kyle Parker (0-1) fell in the loss for West Tenn after allowing six earned runs and seven hits over three-plus innings. The former Washington Huskies standout walked four with three strikeouts.

West Tenn opened the scoring in the second inning when Matt Mangini singled in Brent Johnson for a 1-0 advantage. The Suns bounced back immediately in the bottom of the inning, taking a 2-1 lead on a Tim Torres double scoring Andy Jenkins and Brad Davis. The next batter Lorenzo Scott smashed a two-run homerun over the right field bleachers for a 4-1 lead.

The teams traded fourth inning runs as West Tenn's Brent Johnson belted a two-run homerun into the right field bleachers, cutting the Suns lead to 4-3. In the bottom of the inning, a Lorenzo Scott triple, Matt Craig sacrifice fly and Lee Mitchell single all plated runs to open the lead to 7-3.

The Suns pulled away on a sixth inning leadoff homerun from Matt Craig and a seventh inning, three-run homerun from Bryan Petersen. A ninth inning, two-run homerun from West Tenn's Erick Monzon ended the scoring at 11-6.

Suns LH Aaron Thompson will face Diamond Jaxx RH Luis Munoz in game four of the series Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
