Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Cristhian Martinez pitched a gem for the Suns, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning, while his offense supplied more than enough firepower in a 9-0 win over the Lookouts in Saturday night action at AT&T Field. After three innings of much ado about nothing, the Suns took the initiative in the fourth to score first. With one out, Kevin Randel reached first on a hit by pitch. A subsequent Tim Torres single and Lorenzo Scott walk loaded the bases. Brad Davis followed by sharply hitting a ground ball to second baseman Juan Gonzalez, who ranged to his left to make the play and get the force out at first. With the Suns up 1-0, Cristhian Martinez ripped a single up the middle to score two more runners. Lookouts starting pitcher James Adkins encountered more turbulence in the fifth frame. Chris De La Cruz and Lee Mitchell both led the inning off with walks. An Andrew Jenkins force out put runners at second and third base. Kevin Randel followed with a ground out to first, which resulted in a run crossing the plate for Jacksonville. Relief pitcher Travis Schlichting then entered the game and promptly struck out Tim Torres to prevent any further damage. Jacksonville blew the game open in the sixth. With two outs already on the board, Cristhian Martinez and Bryan Petersen walked. A softly hit roller down the first base side by Chris De La Cruz was fielded cleanly by pitcher Travis Schlichting, but the throw to first hit De La Cruz in the foot, resulting in all the runners being safe. Lee Mitchell made Schlichting pay for all of his miscues by blasting a grand slam over the right field wall, giving the Suns an 8-0 lead. The Suns tacked-on one more run in the seventh on a Brad Davis single, which was prefaced by a Lorenzo Scott single and Tim Torres double. Jacksonville's bullpen took it from there and preserving the victory for Cristhian Martinez (4-2), who had a stellar outing, going seven shutout innings, while yielding just three hits and three walks. He struck out six in the win. James Adkins dropped to 1-3 on the season for the Lookouts. His stat line featured a multitude of fours: 4.2 innings pitched, four hits, four runs, four walks, and four strikeouts.

Chattanooga will hit the road to play a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars on Monday. The Lookouts will return to AT&T Field on Saturday, May 16th. Tickets for this games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849
