HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (10-9) and the Asheville Tourist (11-8) split a doubleheader Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium as the Suns won game one 5-1 and the Tourist took game two 2-0.

After Suns starter Brad Meyers (5-3) gave up a first inning RBI single to Darin Holcomb, he shut down Asheville through six strong innings of work.

The Suns offense gave Meyers a cushion to work with as Boomer Whiting and Pokey Reese both scored in the bottom of the first off of a Tim Pahuta RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Stephen King.

Michael Burgess added some thunder with a solo shot to the left field to give the Suns a 4-1 lead. It was Burgess's 16th home run on the season and first since June 19th.

Bruce Billings (6-6) pitched five innings but was tagged with the loss as he gave up three of the five Suns runs.

Mark Gildea helped put Hagerstown over the top with a two-run shot, his second this season, to give the Suns the win in game one.

In game two, Burgess and Garrett Bass knocked the only two hits for the as the Suns as the offense had trouble to take advantage of three late inning walks.

Connor Graham (7-4) pitched a brilliant complete game shutout for the Tourist, as he struck out eight Suns and only allowed six base runners.

Michael Mitchell led of the game with a single off of Terrence Engles (3-2) and later scored on a RBI ground out by Kevin Clark.

Engles pitched four innings and held Asheville to two runs while Jamie Lehman threw three innings of relief and gave up one hit.

In the fourth, Jeffery Cunningham doubled to center to score Holcomb and was all the Tourists needed to clinch game two.
