Sundogs Sweep Oilers in Two-Game Set, 3-2

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs sweep the Tulsa Oilers Tuesday night in a two-game set, final score 3-2 at Tim's Toyota Center.

Jason Morgan played in his 1,000th pro game Tuesday night with the Arizona Sundogs. Morgan has played with five National Hockey League (NHL) teams, played in 584 American Hockey League (AHL) games, 85 games in the former International Hockey League (IHL), 120 games in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), 73 games in Europe and 53 games for the Arizona Sundogs.

Chad Nehring scored Arizona's first goal of the evening 5:24 into the opening frame, Matt McCready and Derek LeBlanc both received the assists.

Morgan tallied a goal 17 seconds into the second period with a shot from the left crease and LeBlanc and Nehring each collected their second point of the night. Tulsa would score on the power play with a goal from Gary Steffes, after McCready was issued two minutes for holding and an additional two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. Halfway through the second period Cody Purves dumped the puck in the net with a feed from Mario Larocque and Kevin Petovello.

The Oilers closed their goal deficit with less than four minutes left in regulation after Jeff Buvinow scored a shorthanded goal.

David Brown took the win for the Sundogs making 28 saves. The Sundogs outshot the Oilers 39-30. Arizona was 0-9 on the power play and Tulsa was 1-6 on the power play. The Sundogs host the Rapid City Rush on Friday at Tim's Toyota Center when the puck drops at 7:05pm.
