Prescott Valley, AZ 1/6/10 - Arizona goaltender Kyle McNulty stopped all 28 Amarillo shots on goal Wednesday night, taking down the Gorillas 2-0.
The two clubs skated to a 0-0 tie in the opening period with both teams receiving power-play opportunities. The Gorillas out shot the Sundogs 9-7. Amarillo 0 Arizona 0 after one period.
Arizona jumped on the scoreboard first in the second, as forward Joey Sides slipped his shot past Amarillo netminder Mike Brown at the 6:39 mark. The Gorillas penalty kill went 3-for-3 in the frame. At the end of two periods, Arizona 1 Amarillo 0.
Despite out-shooting the Sundogs 10-8 in the final period, the Gorillas couldn't send the puck past Arizona goaltender Kyle McNulty. Arizona added an empty-net goal with 1:04 remaining. Final score Arizona 2 Amarillo 0.
It's a new year and the Gorillas are now offering $10 tickets for the remainder of the 2010 season! The next home game is this Saturday, January 9th beginning at 7pm in the Amarillo Civic Center.
