Sundogs Drop Two to Colorado to Close Out 11 Day Road Trip

Arizona Sundogs News Release
The Arizona Sundogs started their five game, 11 day road trip with three wins against New Mexico, Amarillo and Lubbock before heading to Colorado for a two-game weekend series.
The Sundogs first game against Colorado seemed like a mid-April playoff contest between the two teams with altercations starting in warm-ups. The first fight of the game came just three seconds into the first period. A Steeves to put the Sundogs up 2-0. Colorado would work their way back into the game with a power play goal from Sean Robertson.
Scoring would go back and forth with Colorado scoring the fifth and winning goal with a little more than two minutes left in the game.
In Saturday's contest, Arizona would again score the first goal of the contest on Michael Vernace's first goal of the season. Colorado's special teams' play and Greg Pankewicz would take over, scoring three shorthanded and two power play goals in the game. Pankewicz would be responsible for four of the five with two shorthanded and two power play goals of his own.
Torrie Wheat would score in the third from Dan Laperriere but Colorado's lead would be too much for the Sundogs to overcome.
Arizona to Open Prescott Valley Events Center vs. the Youngstown SteelHounds
Next up for the Sundogs are the Youngstown SteelHounds on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 for the first games ever at the brand new Prescott Valley Events Center. Both games are set for 7:00pm starts.
The SteelHounds opened the season with an impressive 4-0-1 mark before losing their last two. On a similar note, Arizona started the season with a 4-1-0 record before losing their last two to Colorado.

Brent Kelly named CHL Player of the Week for Week of October 23
The Arizona Sundogs' Brent Kelly was been named the CHL Oakley Player of the Week for the week of 10-23. Kelly missed opening weekend action due to immigration delays and in his first two games against New Mexico and Amarillo, he helped the Sundogs to a 2-0-0 record, netting three goals and three assists, including the game winner against the Scorpions Friday night and the shootout game winner against the Gorillas on Sunday. The Kitchener, Ontario native scored the first ever goal in the new Santa Ana Star Center during the first period and netted the game winner, his second of the game in the third. Last Sunday evening against Amarillo, Kelly had helpers on the Sundogs' first two goals in the first period and one in the third on Chris Bartolone's powerplay goal. With three assists, Kelly would also put home the shootout game winner. Kelly's six points in his first two games has earned him CHL Oakley Player of the Week honors for the week of 10-23.
