
Eagles Comeback to Beat Oilers 3-2

TULSA, OK- The Colorado Eagles scored the final three goals of the game to beat the Tulsa Oilers 3-2 Tuesday night at the Tulsa Convention Center. Riley Nelson capped the comeback on a backhand goal with 5:14 remaining in the third period to give the Eagles their fifth straight victory and first win on the road. Colorado has comeback to win in four of their five victories, and in two of the comebacks the Eagles have overcome 2-0 deficits. Sean Robertson and Garrett Larson had the other two goals for Colorado and defenseman Brad Williamson had two assists in the game. Marco Emond won his league-leading fifth game of the season against his former team saving 27 of 29 shots and improving his record to 5-0-0. Colorado (5-1-0) moves to second place in the Northwest Division just one point behind the Oklahoma City Blazers.
For the third straight contest, the Eagles gave up the opening goal of the game. Bryan Lachapelle scored his second goal of the season, a power play goal, on an assist from David Beauregard at the 12:34 mark. Less than two minutes later, the Oilers were up 2-0 on a goal by Dave Rattray, his first goal of the season in his first game of the season. Tulsa out shot the Eagles 12-7 in the period and finished 1-3 on the power play. The Eagles couldn't convert on two power play opportunities in the first period and found themselves down 2-0 going into the intermission.
Colorado cut the Oilers lead to 2-1 only 2:42 into the second period on a goal by Sean Robertson. He was assisted by Aaron Schneekloth and Brad Williamson and the points for Schneekloth and Robertson extended each of their point streaks to five games. Neither team was able to light the lamp for the remainder of the period.
Garrett Larson scored his first goal in 28 games including playoffs to tie the game at two only 2:46 into the final period. It was an unassisted goal for Larson and the third unassisted goal for Colorado in the last two games. Colorado capped their comeback on a great individual effort by Riley Nelson who scored on a backhand drive at the 14:46 mark of the period. Chris Hartsburg and Brad Williamson assisted on the play. The Eagles held on for the final five minutes of the game giving them their fifth consecutive win.
