Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Despite inclement weather, nearly 3,300 fans traveled to Tim's Toyota Center Friday night to see the Arizona Sundogs host the Odessa Jackalopes in the second of five straight between the two clubs.

Acquired in a trade with the expansion Missouri Mavericks two days prior and skating in his first game with the Sundogs, Chad Hinz gave his new club a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play but Odessa responded with three unanswered in the final two periods en route to their fifth win in as many tries against Arizona this season.

On the Sundogs' fourth power play of the opening frame and with possession in the near corner, Hinz sent a centering feed towards the net that bounced off the skate of an Odessa player and past goaltender Juha Toivonen for his 10th of the season just over 14 minutes into the contest.

Chris Bartolone extended his scoring streak to seven games with an assist on the play while Marc Belanger picked up his sixth helper in five games with Arizona.

Each team had a goal waived off in the contest, Odessa at 7:58 of the first period and Arizona with 6:22 to play in regulation.

The trio of Jeff Pierce, Sebastien Thinel and Collin Circelli combined to score all of Odessa's points Friday, with Thinel leading the way with two goals and an assist. Pierce tallied a goal and an assist while Circelli added a pair of helpers.

Pierce tied the game at one 4:43 into the middle frame, connecting on a centering feed as Thinel circled behind the Sundogs' net.

Thinel picked up his second point and first of two goals on the night two minutes later, converting on a penalty shot - the third in as many games against Arizona - after the forward was pulled down by Bartolone after sneaking past the Sundogs' defense.

A shoulder fake at the 6:56 mark forced open Kyle McNulty's legs allowing Thinel to slip the puck between the netminder's pads.

Thinel, Pierce and Circelli connected again midway through the second en route to their 30th win of the year.

Toivonen earned his 15th win of the season with 29 saves on 30 shots while McNulty dropped to 6-13-1 with 24 saves on 27 shots.

Arizona (13-23-3) finished 1-for-8 with the man advantage while holding the league's top power play scoreless on eight advantages.

The two teams face off again tomorrow at 7:05pm at Tim's Toyota Center. Tickets start at just $14 and are available by phone at 1-866-4-GET-TIX (1-866-443-8849), online at www.gettix.net and in person at the Tim's Toyota Center Box Office.
