Sundogs 2011-12 Regular Season Schedule Released

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that the Central Hockey League has released their official regular season schedule for the upcoming 2011-12 season.
The Sundogs will start their season at home on Friday, October 21st against the Laredo Bucks as part of a five-game homestand.
"Overall we're happy with the schedule we have for this season," said General Manager Chris Presson. "Every team has to deal with at least one long road trip during the season, every team enjoys a long homestand and this year is no different. But there will be much more variety for our fans to see this season as more teams will visit the area."
The Sundogs will play 10 straight games at home during the month of January and their longest road trip of the season will take place in February, when the team embarks on an 11-game stint. Of the 13 other teams in the CHL, 11 of those clubs will visit Tim's Toyota Center this year for fans to see.
"Due to our location and the required travel for our club, there's no such thing as an easy schedule," said Head Coach Marco Pietroniro. "But I'm excited about the better mix of teams we'll get to host on our home ice this season, and I know our fans will be excited as well."
The most common opponents this season for the Sundogs will be the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees - who the Sundogs face nine times this year, the Rapid City Rush (eight times), and the Texas Brahmas (seven times).
The 2012 CHL All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, January 11th at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ as the Sundogs take on a team of CHL All-Stars.
Other key dates for the 2011-12 campaign include the Missouri Mavericks first visit to Prescott Valley on October 26th, the day after Thanksgiving and the Sundogs annual New Year's Eve game against Rio Grande Valley, the Quad City Mallards visit Arizona for the first time on December 13th, last year's Governors' Cup Champions (best regular season record) in the Allen Americans come to town the weekend of January 20th, the Dayton Gems will first visit Prescott Valley the weekend of March 2nd, and the Sundogs will visit the Wichita Thunder on St. Patrick's Day.
Arizona closes their regular season on March 23rd and 24th, with a weekend set hosting Rapid City. The complete 2011-12 schedule is listed below.
