Bloomington Blaze Announces 2011-12 Game Schedule

Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, in coordination with the Central Hockey League, has released its 2011-2012 game schedule. The Blaze season opener (and home opener) will beÃÂ Saturday, October 22ndÃÂ when Bloomington hosts the Dayton Gems at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Game time will be 7:05pm.ÃÂ The full Bloomington game schedule is attached with this release.

Of the team's thirty-three (33) home games at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, twenty-three (23) of the games will be played on Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, the Blaze will play four Sunday afternoon games starting in mid-January following the NFL regular season. Sunday games will have a new, CHL mandated, starting time of 4:05pm. All other Bloomington Blaze games will start at 7:05pm.

The Blaze will face every CHL team except Laredo, Texas, and Wichita at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum during the 2011-12 season. On the road, Bloomington will travel to 10 of the 13 CHL opponents. Jason Christie's lads will not travel to Allen, Texas; Arizona; or Wichita, Kansas this season, meaning that the Wichita Thunder will be the only CHL team that Bloomington won't see during the regular season.

"The Blaze organization thanks both the U.S. Cellular Coliseum and the Central Hockey League for providing us with a very strong home schedule," said Blaze General Manager Jim Riggs. "Considering how busy the U.S. Cellular Coliseum is during the fall and winter months, both John Butler & Bart Rogers have given us a very competitive home schedule that our organization needs to take advantage of in the terms of creating many fun promotional nights."

The new Bloomington Blaze will be playing in the fourteen team Central Hockey League beginning in October, 2011. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.
