State College Spikes News Release
ABERDEEN, MD - Sunday's scheduled game between the State College Spikes and the Aberdeen IronBirds at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen has been canceled due to rain. The game will not be made up, as the Spikes will not visit Aberdeen for the remainder of the season.
Following the cancellation, the Spikes will return home to State College, where they will have an off day on Monday and a workout on Tuesday before starting a six-game homestand with a 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Jamestown Jammers (Florida Marlins) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, first baseman Matt Curry, outfielder Adalberto Santos and left-handed relief pitcher Jhonathan Ramos will not be joining their Spikes teammates on the ride home, as the three will represent both State College and the Pittsburgh Pirates organization at the 2010 New York-Penn League All-Star Game in Staten Island, NY. The three Spikes will be on the National League squad for the NYPL's annual showcase event, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
The Spikes had been slated to send right-hander Zack Von Rosenberg (1-6) to the mound to face New York-Penn League All-Star Justin Moore (3-1) for Aberdeen on Sunday. Von Rosenberg's next start is undetermined at this time.
When the Spikes do start back up on Wednesday, fans will have an array of fun, family entertainment options awaiting them at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, starting with Half-Price Wednesday, presented by Froggy 101. Fans can get into the game with half-price Outfield Bleacher tickets, then enjoy half-price select domestic beer drafts from 6-8 p.m. and half-price medium sodas all game long.
