Sunday Afternoon Action in Moose Country
January 31, 2023 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Halifax Mooseheads News Release
Your Halifax Mooseheads will be back on home ice at Scotiabank Centre this Sunday afternoon at 2pm when they entertain the Rimouski Oceanic.
The scorching streak is currently in tact for the Herd who have not lost a game in regulation since November 27th. The 21-game unbeaten in regulation streak is a franchise record and is seven away from a QMJHL record which was set by Sidney Crosby and the Oceanic in 2005. Halifax has also won 11 straight games and will face the Islanders in back-to-back meetings in Charlottetown this week before returning to Scotiabank Centre for Sunday's contest with Rimouski.
Goalie Mathis Rousseau is the reigning goaltender of the week in the Q after posting a 2-0 record which included a shutout of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan over the weekend. Jordan Dumais continues to lead the team and the entire CHL in scoring with 86 points. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect has been vaulting up the Mooseheads' franchise record books and sits fifth all-time in team scoring with 224 points, just 18 behind Jonathan Drouin for fourth. Brandon Benedict is the leader with 303 career points scored between 1998-2003.
The crowds inside Scotiabank Centre have been rapidly growing thanks to the highly successful season and exciting action on the ice. The Mooseheads enjoyed their biggest turnout of the season on Saturday with 9,069 in the building. Sunday vs Rimouski is expected to be another exhilarating atmosphere.
