UNCASVILLE, CT. (May 11, 2007) - The Connecticut Sun waived Vanessa Gidden and Brooke Smith Friday.
Gidden, a 6-foot-3 center who played for Stamford High, had four rebounds, three blocks and two points in two preseason games. The Hofstra alum completed her college career with 175 blocks, the most in program history.
The 6-3 Smith was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Lynx on April 29th. She was selected by Minnesota in the second round (23rd overall) of the 2007 WNBA Draft. The Stanford graduate averaged 3.5 points and two rebounds in two preseason games with the Sun.
The Sun will play their first regular season home game of the 2007 season on May 26th at 3:30 p.m., hosting the Los Angeles Sparks at Mohegan Sun Arena.
