Uncasville, CT - The Connecticut Sun (7-23) returns home to face the Phoenix Mercury (12-20) on Friday, August 7 inside Mohegan Sun Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30pm ET, and fans not making the trip to Uncasville can tune into the action on ION.
Fans are invited to join the Connecticut Sun and BuildSubmarines.com for an exciting STEM Night, celebrating the powerful connection between sports, science, technology, engineering, and math. Attendees can receive a Connecticut Sun baseball hat upon entry while supplies last and learn more about STEM education initiatives and career opportunities available throughout Southeast Connecticut.
The evening will also feature a special pregame ceremony honoring Alyssa Thomas as a Connecticut Sun Legend, recognizing her outstanding contributions and lasting impact on the franchise.
Connecticut's last contest was an 83-63 road loss against the Dallas Wings on August 2. Diamond Miller led the Sun with 22 points, four rebounds and two steals. Kennedy Burke also posted a double-digit outing with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Phoenix enters the contest following a 96-82 loss to the Atlanta Dream on August 5. Kelsey Plum led the charge for the Mercury with 19 points and five rebounds. Thomas chipped in with 17 points and seven assists alongside Kahleah Copper who added 14 points. DeWanna Bonner secured a double-double in the loss logging 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The last contest between the two was a nine-point 72-63 road loss for the Sun on July 19. Brittney Griner and Olivia Nelson-Ododa combined for 31 points earning 19 and 12 points respectively. Nelson-Ododa also led on the board with 12 rebounds. For the Mercury, Bonner led all scorers with 21 points while Copper recorded 18 points.
